WILFRIED RICHARD ROBERT KAPPUS  “Willie” (Age 76)  Passed away at home on Friday, January 27, 2012. Born in Bremen, Germany, Willie emigrated to America as a teenager and served his country in the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged, he worked for the Goddard Space Flight Center and Northrop Grumman until retiring to enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was very proud of his grandchildren, Ian, Quinn, Logan and Amanda. An avid tennis player, ping-pong enthusiast and coin collector, he always kept toes tapping with his accordion and harmonica playing. Willie enjoyed nothing so much as a beautiful day on the courts, a rousing round of table tennis or a refreshing dip in the pool and being a huge soccer fan, he was glued to this TV during the World Cup games. There were many a day that Willie could be found puttering in his garden and flower beds. His love of the outdoors, was a constant thread throughout his life. He will be missed. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 1 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. at BRISCOE-TONIC FUNERAL HOME, 2294 Old Washington Rd., Waldorf, MD. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Willie’s name to the American Cancer Society.
