HILCREST HEIGHTS, Md. – Thomas S. Bruce, 71 of Hillcrest Hts. MD passed away at Washington Hospital Center on May 25.He was born in Medley WV on July 21, 1945.He was the son of the late Mary and Isiah Bruce.Steve was proceeded in death by two sisters, Rosa Hollingsworth and Evelyn Thomas, and four brothers, Virgil, Ashton, Milford, and James Bruce.Steve is survived by his former wife and good friend Margo Bruce of Ft. Washington Md., one daughter, Sabrena Bruce of Ft. Washington Md. two sons, Thomas S Bruce Jr,and wife Olga of Upper Marlboro MD, Shaun Bruce of Temple Hills MD, four grandchildren, Isaiah Bruce, Lauren Bruce, Joshua Mason, Logan Furtelli, two brothers, Marvin Bruce and wife Cheryl of Mitchelville MD, and Ernest Bruce of Columbus OH, and one sister Frances Mabin and husband Ray of Keyser WV, and a host of friends and relatives.Steve was a graduate of Petersburg High School, attended Shepherd College, and in 1973 graduated from DC teachers College, and in 1977 graduated with a masters degree from the University of DCSteve was employed by the US Postal Service, and later by the DC Police Force,where he retired. After retirement from the police force, Steve worked for the US Marshalls’ Service, where he received Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Service Rendered During the Dedication Ceremony of the ‘E. Barrett Prettyyman Courthouse , March 20, 1997Steve was a member of the Iverson Mall Walkers.Steve was a member of the` Holy Family Catholic Church.A viewing will be held on Monday, June 6, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 2210 Calloway St. Hillcrest Hts. Md. with a memorial service at 11 a.m., officiated by Father Kevin Regan.The Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home 2294 Old Washington rd, Waldorf, Maryland is handling the arrangements.
