THOMAS McKELDIN SPEARS

SPEARS THOMAS PHOTO 2.0

Thomas McKeldin Spears entered the world on, February 27, 1937, in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, born one of six children to the late Joseph and Teresa Spears.

Thomas was educated in the St. Mary’s County Public School System. After school, Thomas went on to work with the Maryland State Highway Administration for over 20 years and for several years at the Thompson Seafood Market.

Thomas met and fell in love with Judy Douglas and the two were married, September 25, 1971, and from this union came two sons, Eric and Anthony “Tony” Spears and five grandchildren.

Thomas loved life and his family dearly. His favorite pastimes included watching baseball, boxing, westerns and football (especially the Washington Commanders), going to Budd’s Creek race track and BMX track events to watch his sons and grandchildren compete. Thomas loved working on cars and was a “Jack of All Trades.” Another thing he loved was eating, especially his wife Judy’s fried chicken. He loved talking to and meeting people. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and close friends. Well known in his community, Thomas always kept everyone laughing and in good spirits.

On the evening of, March 31, 2023, GOD called Thomas home and he entered his eternal rest surrounded by his loving family. Thomas was a man that was and will always be greatly loved and deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Teresa Spears; his siblings, Joseph Spears (Ann), Margaret Dent (George), and Theresa Hardy (Napoleon); his daughter-in-law, Tonya Jones; his beloved granddaughter, Erica Spears and grandson, Lance Jones. Left behind to cherish his loving memory is his loving wife of 51 years, Judy Spears; his sons, Eric (Sherry) and Tony Spears (Kimberly); grandchildren, Tomas Spears, Lina Spears and Sunny Spears; his sisters, Dianna Fuller, Audrey Isaac, Frances Ann Wade (Leon) and a host of relatives and friends.

Family and friends will unite on Monday, April 17, 2023 for visitation at 10 am until time of service at 11 am at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 38576 Brett Way, Mechanicsville, MD.  Interment to follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.
