Theresa Eleanor Johnson was born, May 23, 1938 in California, Maryland to the late James Harry Thompson and Ann Elizabeth Lloyd Thompson. Theresa passed peacefully in her home on Monday, November 25, 2019.
Theresa was raised in the Catholic faith and was educated in St. Mary’s County. She attended St. Peter Claver Elementary School and Cardinal Gibbons High School in Ridge, MD. In 1960, she married the late Francis Rodell Johnson, Sr. and together they raised 5 children. She was also a mainstay in the community sharing her talents by working as a receptionist at Rhine’s Beauty Salon and providing neighborhood cleaning services as a member of P&P Brothers Janitorial service.
Theresa was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and sister, finding great joy in taking care of family, her great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Spending decades of her life ensuring that her loved ones were well cared for, she was truly a pillar of her community.
Theresa loved watching tennis, specifically the Williams sisters, as well as college basketball, golf and gymnastics. During family gatherings she enjoyed hand dancing with her siblings. She got up every morning before the sun and started her daily routine, which soon included looking after her grandchildren and seeing them off to school each day.
Theresa leaves to cherish her memory four children: Charles Terrence Thompson of Tampa, FL; Phyllis Ann Curtis (Xavier) of Prince Frederick, MD; Erica Michelle Garrett (Shawn) and Francis Rodell Johnson Jr. (Erica) of Lexington, Park, MD; five siblings: Cora Elizabeth Chase and Shirley Gordon of New York, John Thompson (Deloris) and Catherine Herndon (Harold) of Hollywood, MD, and Cornelius R. Thompson Sr., and Francis Eugene Thompson, Sr; and four sisters: Barbara Elaine and Maria Annette Thompson, Sarah Ernestine Lynch and Linda Thompson Woods.
Family and friends will unite on Thursday, December 5, 2019 for visitation at 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 22375 Three Notch Rd, Lexington Park, MD 20653. Interment to follow at the church cemetery.

Thereasie is my dear Sister in love. I was married to her brother Paul Thompson (deceased). I have over a total of 47 years of loving memories we made while visiting in Maryland. We would always stop to see Thereasie and her brother Gene (deceased) who lived next door to her. Paul and I would sit in her living room watching and discussing what was on the Sports Chanel. Sometimes we would watch Gospel Videos. I have loving memories of this that I will always cherish.
After Paul passed, Thereasie would stay in touch via phone calls. We would call each other every holiday and chat, laugh, and share what was happening in our lives. We always ended each call saying I love you. Sometimes Thereasie would call me out of the blue to see how I was doing and coping. We were both widows and she was very supportive, loving, and comforting. I will miss our conversations, sharing, caring, and sisterly love. Thereasie Rest in Peace in the Peaceful and Loving Presence of Jesus. I love you and miss you. My deepest condolences to Thereasie’s loving family, my sisters and brothers in law, and their families. I love you all. You all are in my prayers, heart, and thoughts. God bless and comfort each of us always but especially doing this difficult time. The Peace of the Lord be with you.
