Steven A. Posey

Posey, Steven

Bless the Lord O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name”.

I have fought a good fight

I have finished my course

I have kept the faith

II Timothy 4:7

Steven Andrew Posey, the son of Connie I. Posey was born July 14, 1983 in Clinton, Maryland and transitioned to his eternal home on April 30, 2023. Steven accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized and became a member of Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Jesse B. Williams, Sr. His favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” was what he lived by.

Steven loved his family.  He was a committed and loving father to his “baby girl” daughter, Ava. She was the light in his eyes, and he always made sure she felt loved and cared for.  Steven was a devoted son and very close to his mother.

He was educated in the Charles County Public School system graduating from Lackey High School in 2001 then matriculated to Elizabeth City State University, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.  Steven graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2006.  While in high school he played football as an offensive lineman, left tackle, and was talented enough to continue his athletic career at Elizabeth City State University (Vikings). As the starter for the Vikings, he earned All CIAA honors. Steven also was signed to the Ohio Valley Greyhounds, a professional indoor football team in 2006. During his time in college his work ethic was on full display being a student athlete which carried on during his professional career after college and football.

Steven held multiple managerial and supervisory positions prior to his latest position as a federal employee at the Department of Navy.  He was an IT Specialist at Naval Air Systems Command, PAX River, Maryland.  He had many responsibilities that he took on with a positive and professional attitude. Steven was a go to person that staff and other customers would lean on for help.

Steven, affectionately known as “Stevie” or “Posey”, touched everyone he came in contact with and you felt like he was a friend after just meeting him.  He had the biggest heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand with a big smile.  His smile was infectious, lighting up any room he walked into. Steven really enjoyed fishing, which started as a child when he would go fishing with his grandfather.  He also kept the freshest sneakers to the point where some would consider him a “sneakerhead”. Steven’s passion also included cooking.  He enjoyed preparing one of his many signature dishes for events and holidays. Then he also did a couple trial runs of selling dinners that may have potentially taken his passion into a side food service business.

Steven was preceded in death by his Grandparents, William A. and Ruth I. Posey. He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter Ava Domonique, mother Connie, Godmother Sheila Peacock, aunts and uncles Carol Ann, Ruth Ann, Gloria, Christine (Jamie), William Jr., Mark, Matthew cousins LaShawn Bowman, Larry H. Wade, Jr. (Nicole) James A. Flowers (Kristian), Mark Posey, Matthew I.A. Posey, Joshua Posey, Landon Wade, and McKenzie Flowers.  He is remembered fondly by his devoted friend Nicholas Halloran along with Jeff Taylor, Justin Waters, Damien Brown, Carlos Smith, Calvin Sykes and many other friends and relatives.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, May 20, 2023 for visitation at 9:00 am until time of service, 11:00 am, at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 7 Industrial Park Drive, Waldorf, MD 20602.  Interment to follow at Heritage Cemetery, Waldorf, MD.
