Ronald Maurice Claytor

Ronald (Ronnie) Maurice Claytor, 63 years old, son, of Ollie Dale Claytor and Ellis David Claytor. Ronald was born on April 29th, 1960, in Washington DC. Ronald grew up with his brother and sister, David Claytor and Anita Lynn Claytor. Ronald graduated from Woodson Junior High School and had decided that type of education wasn’t for him, so he decided to work in the hospitality profession. Ronald worked at the U.S Senate building in downtown Washington as a cook and that’s when he discovered his talent. After that, he worked in several well-known restaurants, which were in Washington, DC and Maryland, as a professional chef and always had the desire to attend culinary school.

Ronald enjoyed life and enjoyed entertaining people and family with jokes and laughter. One thing about Ronald, he loved his children and was always happy when they were together. He also enjoyed the company of his mother, sister, brother, nieces, nephews and friends as well. He was always known as Uncle Ron; the one who made everyone laugh.

Ronald departed this life on Tuesday August the 1st at the home of his mother, while battling a long illness. He fought a good fight, but he couldn’t fight anymore. One thing for sure, Ronnie had a great relationship with the Lord, and he made sure you knew this. As children, Mama Dale always made sure her children attended church every Sunday and on some weekdays. Mother would always preach that “if you teach a child about the Lord when they are young, they may go astray but they will always remember and come back” and that’s what Ronnie did. He acknowledged that the Lord was his savior, and he was at peace and went on to be with the Lord.

Special memories would be cherished by his mother, Ollie Dale Claytor; son, Ronald Crump; granddaughter, Journey Crump; grandson, Ronald Crump, Jr., Jerron Hawkins, Nkhoma McDougal and Isaiah Gray; daughter-in-law, Tarri Palmer; sister, Anita Claytor; nieces, Erica Jackson, Danita Claytor, Journey Jones, and Janiah Bolton; nephew, Andre Bolton; his beloved Aunt Shirley Derricote; a devoted companion, Karen Payne; a special friend, Elvis Dent and a host of aunts, uncles, loving cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Family and friends will unite on Friday, August 11, 2023 for visitation at 10 am until time of service at 11 am at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 38576 Brett Way, Mechanicsville, MD 20659.  Interment will follow at Heritage Memorial Cemetery, 13472 Poplar Hill Rd, Waldorf, MD 20601.
