Pearlee Miller, departed this life on Thursday, August 19, 2010. Born on December 16, 1923 in Bishopville, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Sam Coley and Ella Benjamin-Coley.In 1940 she relocated to Washington Dc where she met and married, Wilson l. Miller, a watch maker and upholsterer for the Smithsonian. Mrs. Miller secured employment with the Marriott as a food inspector and trainer at Marriott Hotels and Ho Shops throughout the United States. Prior to her retirement she received several awards and accolades including the Marriott Quarter Century club Membership for working with the company more than 25 years.She was the rock and connector within her family and a mother and grandmother to an entire community. She wasn’t shy or hesitant when it came to helping others. She was a caretaker and put others before herself her entire life. She would often offer and then insist on giving clothes, money, food or even words of encouragement with her famous line. “”You are perfectly welcome!””Living a life pleasing to the Lord Jesus Christ was a priority for Mrs. Miller. If you want to know who a person is, you can often get a great understanding of someone based on what they dedicate their time doing. She would spend days at a time with her nose in the Bible, morning, noon and night. She was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church for over two decades where she served in the Flowers Club and as a Pastor’s Aid.Pearlee was preceded in death by Arthur and Alfred Miller, Sr.She is survived by children, Clara Davis and Michael Miller; 10 grandchildren, Juanita, Contrina, Alvera, Alfred Jr., Shanta, Marquitta, Jacqueline, Jason, Michael Jr., and Lisa; 15 great grandchildren, Armani, Vernya, Taira, Andre, Charles, Rosa, Sherri, Terry, Malik, Jaikyla, Vernon, Shawnicey, Jacqunand Stephon; one nephew, James Woods and many relatives and friends. Friday, August 27, 2010 service 10 am at Liberty Baptist Church 527 Kentucky Avenue S.E. Washington DC 20003.Interment will take place at Lincoln Cemetery in Suitland, MD
