
Peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 Patricia Mandy was called home to be with the Lord. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 11, at 1:00 PM here at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home 2294 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, MD 20601.
To Family and Friends: Our beloved Patricia Ann Mandy, was born to Sadie Shellman Mandy and Lester Mandy on January 9th 1950, in Miami, Florida. She received her early childhood education in Liberty County School System in Midway, Georgia and Charles E. Young Elementary School in Washington, D.C. She was an honor student , on the Principal’s List, a member of the Student of the Month Club as well as the School Chorus.
At the age of 16 she received Jesus Christ as her Savior and joined Browns Memorial.
While she was on tour with her parents. She attended the U.S. Army Dependent School, and she served as a Girl Scout Leader in Kusrur, Germany. When she returned to the states, she attended and graduated from Wanesville High School in Wanesville, Missouri. Patricia graduated with honors. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the school chorus, the girls’ drill team and Vice President of the Student Government Leadership Council. She worked during her summer vacation for Health, Education and Welfare (HEW) and General Services Administration (GSA). She attended Bowie State College University in Bowie, Maryland, Howard University and the University of the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C. Upon graduation she received a position in the federal government with HEW.
Patricia’s tenure in federal employment expanded over several decades. During this time she received numerous awards and accolades. Her final federal government position and achievement was with Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Patricia dedicated 44 years of service to the federal government.
Patricia preceded us on February 7, 2012. She will be loved and missed. She leaves behind her be loved Mother Sadie E.(Mandy) Garner; eight aunts, one uncle, six 1st cousins, nineteen 2nd cousins, six 3rd cousins; and a very close friend, who was also like a sister Hazel; and other relatives and of host of friends.
