MELODY BEATRICE CLARK ROGERS Transitioned on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the age of 60, with her beloved children by her side at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. She was born in Point Pleasant, NJ and raised by her grandmother, Nelly Whittaker Graham in Asbury Park, NJ She graduated from Asbury Park High School in 1971 and soon after married. She and her children, Gina and Rocky moved to Flint, MI in 1974 and then to the Washington, DC metropolis in 1983. Melody has been in the DC area for 30 years. Her 35 year career as a medical assistant concluded with Dr. Kaufman and Dr. ZInsmeister, a cardiology practice where she retired on September 30, 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Regina Rogers Johnson (Lyn); son, Rashid Osei Rogers; a dear granddaughter, Ava C. Johnson; father-in-law, James Rogers; mother-in-law, Patricia Rogers; siblings, Lorraine Womack Davis, Vietta Clark, Diane Cooper, Irving Jr., Donald , Jerome and Douglas Graham; great aunt, Shirley Moore; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. On Monday, October 21 visitation from 10 a.m. until hour of service at 11 a.m. at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 2294 Old Washington Rd., Waldorf, MD. Interment private.
