Marquetta Rochelle McGee was born in Washington D.C., on May 21, 1976, and was the first of three children born to the union of Leroy and Patricia McGee. Marquetta was introduced to the church at an early age. She was raised with good Christian values and did not smoke or drink. She received her formal education in the Maryland Public School system. Marquetta had an outstanding record of attendance during high school, which helped her gain employment with the U.S. Government while still in school. After graduation she became a full time employee and worked for 17 years with the U.S. Patent and Trade Mark Office until her death. Well rounded, talented, disciplined, and a fast learner. Marquetta’s life changed with the birth of her daughter, Ja’Nae Alicia. Her focus became “nurture and care for the baby, be the best mother you can be, as she emulated her mother Patricia.” Games, puzzles, books, field trips, homework and extra curricular activities seemed to be the order of the day. Marquetta ‘was about business’ as her Dad would often say. On July 11, 2012, her parents will accept on her behalf, an award of Outstanding Achievement from the U. S. Patent and Trade Mark Office.Marquetta’s daughter, Ja’Nae Alicia Woodard preceded her in death.Marquetta leaves to celebrate her life her parents, Leroy and Patricia McGee; grandfather, Alphonso Slye; two brothers, LeRoy Mc Gee Jr. and Patrick (Nicholle) McGee; two sisters, Cassandra Hair of Jacksonville, Florida and Latrice Elkins of Los Angeles, California; one niece, Tatyanna Liggins; seven aunts, Daphane Washington, Adrienne (John) Claggett, Michelle Dixon, Dora Scott, Katie McGee, Daisy (Joseph) Ryan and Linda F.
