Karin Cal Shoto Beckett, (aka Karen) was born on October 30, 1949 in Rankin County, Mississippi to Florastine Shoto and Clarence Langford. She was raised and nurtured by Archibald and Jacquelyn Shoto. Karen was educated in Chicago, Illinois, attending and graduating from Wadsworth Elementary School and Loretta High School. Karen married Marion Beckett and that union was blessed with three children, Felicia Beckett, Aurbara Beckett Harper and Melvin Beckett. Karen worked diligently to assist in raising and supporting her children. She worked for many years and during that time she was employed by ICEE Corp., ADP Payroll, LLC, and Walmart Corp. Karen had the opportunity to travel within the USA and outside the country with her daughter, Aurbara Beckett Harper. In her travels, she worked at several United States Military bases. Karen loved music and she could hear a record or sound track and immediately know the name of the song and who sang it. She was also a movie buff; especially enjoying scary movies and a wide range of cartoons. One fact that everyone who knew Karen could agree with is “She was known for her SIGNATURE SUNGLASSES”. No matter the venue-bright sunshine, dark evening outings, indoor or outside, Karen would cooly wear her ‘SIGNATURE SUNGLASSES’. Karen had a way of sharing her thoughts about family members in a very humorous way. She created a family tradition using her crafty signifying skills. She leaves many memories and her love and legacy will live on through her family and friends. Karen was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Felicia and siblings, Jeffery Scott, Jerry Lynn Scott, Marshall Bullock and Rene Barrett. Proudly she leaves with love her daughter, Aurbara; son, Melvin and Wife Brandy; granddaughter, Synerah Beckett; grandson, Tsychiais Beckett; her siblings, Jennifer Scott, Regina Thames, Curtis Barrett; sisters-in-law, Brenda and Alice Beckett, Wanda Bullock and Dr. Doreen E. Barrett; special friend, Stan Ashford, as well as cousins, extended family and friends. “To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die”
Although the shell of the body maybe gone, take comfort in knowing her love, strength and memories will forever shine on. We light this candle in her memory.
This is beautiful! Sending my love, condolences and BIG vaccinated hugs to the family! Ms. Karen was a blast!
Love Always,
Jen and Family
