
Joseph Thomas Riggs, Jr. was born in Washington D.C on April 30,1948. Joseph attended Maryland public schools, shortly after high school he join the army and served his country for 4 years, after leaving the army in 1971 he attended Temple business school in Washington, D.C. were he met his wife of 51 years. On February 14, 1972 he started working at the Bureau of Engraving and worked there for 30 years retiring on May 1,2002.
On March 8, 2023 Joseph T. Riggs, Jr. passed away quietly in his home, preceding Joseph in death are his parents Joseph T. Riggs Sr and Virginia Mullen Riggs, James Riggs, brother, Ida Thomas, sister. He leaves to cherish his memories Marlene Howard Riggs his wife of Lexington Park, Md, son Joseph Thomas Riggs III of Lexington, MD. His sisters Margaret Harper of Wash, D.C, Dorothy Riggs of Washington ,D.C. Rose Green of Ft Wash, Md, Irene Bryant of Wash, D.C. Barbara Pinkett of Hillcrest Heights, Md two brother-in-laws Charlie Bryant and Alvin Pinkett. Two sister-in-laws Nelda Howard Salter of Bridgeport Conn, Linda Harp of New Haven, Conn.
Joseph was an avid fisherman and love to Bowl. His favorite things to do daily was talk to Rob Robinson and David Epps and James (chop)Simmons.
Family and Friends will unite on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 10:00am until time of service 12:00pm at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 7 Industrial Park Drive, Waldorf, MD 20602.
Interment will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, 10:30 am at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
The Family would like all attendees to wear a mask during the services.
Marlene, Buddy, Sissy, Dorothy, Lee, Irene, Barbara Jean, you all have my sincere condolences. Praying that the Lord give you peace, comfort and lots of love at this time. Junior will be missed, first time I met him he was always kind and pleasant to me always fun to be around, he will always be my Uncle Junior.
