Joseph Leroy Wilson, Jr., 53, of Lexington Park, Maryland, received his call from God to come home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in the late evening on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
Joseph, aka “Boo-Boo” or “Roy”, was born August 22, 1969 to the late Mary Madeline Reed Wilson and Joseph Leroy Wilson, Sr. and was raised in Chaptico, Maryland. Roy was educated through the St. Mary’s County School System and later graduated from Chopticon High School.
After graduating, Roy received training to become a security officer, landing a position with Shields Security. He then went on to work for major corporate warehouses to include Montgomery Wards and Murrays as forklift driver, stock clerk and loader. Roy then found his passion as a concrete finisher. He worked for several concrete companies until settling with Southern Maryland Concrete Construction for many years. Roy’s last position held was Security Guard at Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD until his health deteriorated to a point where he could not work.
Boo-Boo was one who indeed believed in “Family Over Everything.” He was often the life of the party and was just like his Mother Mag. Boo-Boo loved everything about people, not just family, but everyone he was around, young or old, it never mattered to him. He enjoyed dancing and singing and would hit a high note for you in a heartbeat. Boo loved music. He just loved being around family and friends. He had a special relationship with his cousin, Jonathan…he would tell people, “me & Jon real-related cuz, we cousins on both sides!” Also, his ace, William “WeeWee” Young.
Roy was just like his Dad; they had a great love for antique cars. Fixing them up…riding in it for a little while, then on to the next one. He got that from his Dad! Other hobbies included going to the racetrack and participating in car shows, playing cards and dominoes, and was a die-hard Washington Redskins fan.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, Roy was predeceased by his brother, Francis Xavier (Bunny) Reed, and his uncles, Walter (Billy) Reed and Herbert Reed.
Roy leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Kaylynn Wilson. He also leaves to mourn his sister, Vonda Jones; his brothers, Torian and Torez Wilson; sister-in-law, Michelle Reed; nieces, Markya Reed, Jazmin Jones and LaDonna Bush and nephews, Khalil Reed and Travon Jones, as well as his stepmother, Karen Wilson and additionally, his beloved significant other, Jacqueline Carroll, who cared for him until the end. He also leaves behind his aunts, Diane Reed-Matthews, Pamela Reed, Shirley Ann Reed, Barbara Reed, Sabrina Reed and Annette Winfrow; uncles, Johnny Reed, Royal Reed, Paul Reed, Jr. and Larry Bush, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Whether you called him Roy or Boo-Boo, he will be remembered as a loving person who cared deeply about his family, friends and those who thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of life.
Family and friends will unite on Saturday, February 4, 2023 for visitation from 9:30 am – 11 am; service from 11 am – 12:30 pm at Gospel Tabernacle of Prayer Church, 24516 Budd’s Creek Road, Clements, MD. Interment to follow at Queen of Peace cemetery, Mechanicsville, MD.

Boo Boo I’m going to miss your cheerful face and smile when you came into the post office to get your mail and how you messed with me and the postmaster, rest easy my friend and the angels will welcome you with open arms. GOOD BYE until we meet again.
God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So, he wrapped his arms around you,
And whispered, “Come to Me.”
You didn’t deserve what you went through,
So he gave you a rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
For he only takes the best.
And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain,
I could not wish you back,
To suffer that again.
To the Wilson & Reed Family,
Sending love and many prayers in your time of sorrow. Boo was definitely one of the good ones, a brother not only to us but many others. We will miss him no doubt, but with God and his promises he will continue to give us the strength we need. So many memories to get us through our tough days ahead. So very blessed that we were a part of his life. Rest easy our friend. “P4LIFE”
We love you all!
