
John Melvin Barbour was born on December 8, 1956 the 10th child to the late William Francis and Mary Margaret Barbour. Peanut, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, peacefully went home to be with the Lord October 8, 2012.
Peanut was educated in the Charles County public school system. He was employed with S. Freeman and Sons as a warehouse worker. He later joined the Washington Hilton where he worked as a Restaurant Worker. He also worked as a Maintenance Worker for PEPCO.
He was avid Cowboys fan and loved listening to music especially the Quiet Storm on WHUR. Peanut enjoyed laughter, sharing stories, and spending time with his family. His sense of humor brought laughter, tears of joy and gladness to everyone who knew him.
He leaves to mourn his 10 siblings, James (Annie); William (Nellie); Lydia Ann, Theresa, Thomas, David, Charles, Robert (Natasha) Barbour; Mary Jenifer and Thelma (Louis) Bowman; 1 uncle Dr. Joseph Jones, 1 aunt Alice Thomas, 16 nephews, 14 nieces, 14 great nephews, 28 great nieces, 3 great-great nephews, 8 great-great nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends.
