
James Ernest (Snooky) Thompson was born July 2, 1947 in Charles County, MD to James Buddy and Mary Thompson. He was educated through the Charles County Public Schools. Throughout his career he was employed at the Department of Public Works, he was an excellent employee as a heavy equipment operator driving dump trucks and bulldozers for 25 years. In 1966 he married Theresa Thompson and had 3 wonderful boys, Steve, Chuck and Glenn.
During his time here Ernest loved to go fishing with his brother in law Leroy, playing cards, watching racecars at the racetrack, working on cars, riding his lawnmower, going to the casino and being the best Father and Grandfather anyone could ask for. Family was everything to him. He loved spending time with everyone every chance he had. He never missed a family gathering or celebration, Birthdays, graduations, weddings he was there no matter what.
On July 16, 2023 Ernest passed peacefully at Civista Hospital in LaPlata, MD. He was loved by so many and was the sweetest person anyone would ever meet. His laughs and jokes were one of a kind and will forever be missed.
Ernest leaves behind the love of his life Theresa Thompson, 2 sons Steve (Felicia) and Chuck, 7 Grandchildren Keyarna, Lorenzo, Courtney (Marlon), Marcus, Camrey (J’Shon), Caterra, and Ailani. One Great Grandson Braxton and another baby boy arriving November 2023 Ace Evander Twine. One brother Clifton and 4 sisters Carolyn, Michelle, Belinda, and Christine. He was preceded in death by his Son Glenn, Parents Buddy and Mary, Brothers David, Woody, Hugh, Randy and Sister Earline.
As the loving Grandfather he was he also had 3 bonus Grandkids Charlesa Creek, Tyran Harding and Michaela Jernigan. 7 Bonus Great Grandkids Maiyah, Maliyah, Vince, Chaniyah, Honest and Zayshawn.
On the evening of Thursday, July 27, from 6-8pm, a visitation will be held at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 7 Industrial Park Drive, Waldorf, MD 20602. A service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, visitation will begin at 10:00am and continue until time of mass, 10:30am, at Saint Peters Catholic Church, 3320 Saint Peters Dr, Waldorf, MD 20601.
Interment will follow the service at Saint Peters Catholic Church Cemetery in Waldorf, MD.
