On Saturday, August 5, 2023, Francis Xavier Nolan, Sr., aka “Peaches”, passed peacefully in his sleep. Francis was born on February 17, 1937, in Leonardtown, Maryland. He attended St. Peter Claver Elementary School and graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School in Ridge, Maryland. On June 17, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart Nellie (Helen) Hall at St. James Catholic Church (now St. Cecilia Catholic Church). Francis was a loyal member of the church for over 40 years, attended faithfully until he was no longer physically able to attend.
Francis’ most precious joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He was a food service professional his entire life. Working as a chef by day and a DJ by night for several years. But his true passion was preparing special dinners and picnics for family and friends. He was well known for catering for many weddings, anniversaries, and birthday parties throughout the county.
He leaves to cherish in his memory his loving wife, Nellie (Helen) Nolan; two daughters, Patricia Whiting and Windy Plush; son, Francis Xavier Nolan, Jr., two granddaughters, Jazmine and Jayde Whiting; and a grandson, Andrew Plush; sisters, Theodoris Awkward and Shelia McPherson, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives, friends, and neighbors. He was predeceased by his mother, Bernice Nolan; father, Louis John Nolan; sister, Ethel Nolan and brothers, Louis Alexander Nolan, and Benjamin Nolan.
Family and friends will unite on Saturday, August 19, 2023 for visitation at 10 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 47950 Mattapany Rd, St. Mary’s City, MD 20686. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery, St. James Church Rd, Lexington Park, MD 20653.

Dear sweet, wonderful family, my most profound and loving condolences to you all for the loss of Uncle Francis. A true gem of a man with a heart of gold and the soul of an Angel. He was such a loving joy in our lives and hearts; he will truly be missed. I Pray God gives you strength and consoles you through this time of heartache but heals you through the many beautiful memories you all have of him until you meet again. As a child of God, he will rest in peace.
Most importantly, he is not alone. Mom and the many other loved ones we have lost are ensuring he is okay in the Heavens above. He is probably trying to set up a game of “cards” right now. My family, we love you all and are here for you always. Hugs and Kisses forever!
Sorry for your lost. Praying for you.
