
Elsie Catherine Butler passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 6, 2011. She was born on February 11, 1912 to the late Louis Alfred Thomas and Mary Louise Marshall Thomas. Elsie leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, one brother, Phillip Thomas of Chaptico, Maryland; two sisters; Florine Thomas Plater of Mechanicsville, Maryland and Agnes Lillian Young of Loveville, Maryland; one brother-in-law, John Pinkey Young and two sisters-in-law, Rosie Thomas and Lucille Butler. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Butler; five brothers, George F. Thomas, James L. Thomas, Joseph Andrew Thomas, Walter A. Thomas and Lawrence I. Thomas; two sisters Catherine Thomas-Carter and Annie E. Thomas.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christan Burial will be on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Wayside, 37575 Chaptico Road, Chaptico, MD. Interment: Scared Heart Parish Cemetery, Bushwood.
Auntie Elsie,
God saw you were getting tired,
And a cure was not to be,
So he put his arms around you
And whispered, “Come to me”
