“Doretha Emanuel Abney passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012 after a lengthy illness and a courageous fight to stay with those she loved.
She was the beloved mother of Brenda Brownlee, Dianna Abney, MD., and Lloyd Walter Abney, Jr. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Lloyd Walter Abney, Sr.; brothers, William and Leon Emanuel and sister, Katherine Lawson. Doretha is survived by a sister, Juanita Gray, grandchildren- Lloyd Brownlee, Angela Brownlee, Mario Worthy, Delilah Gates, Sylvester Gates III, and a legion of nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as many friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012, from 1:00pm until time of service at 2:00pm at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home Chapel, 2294 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601. Interment will be held in Shreveport, Louisiana.”
She must have been a truly great person to have had such offspring as Dianna. My deepest condolences for your loss. The world is a better place that she was among us.
I would like to add my prayers for comfort and healing for Dianna and her family. I did not know Mrs Abney personally but have enjoyed my friendship with her daughter. May the memories of such a wonderful woman fill your days.
