David Mitchell Young, 65 of Avenue, MD, departed this life on June 1, 2016 at Hospice of St. Mary’s. He was born on November 6, 1950 to the late Charles Henry Young Sr. and Harriet Lucinda Jameson Young.

David was baptized at All Saints Episcopal Church, Oakley. He received his education in the St. Mary’s County Public School system. He graduated from Chopticon High School in 1969. After receiving his diploma, he worked as a laborer at the local power plants. He then went on to become a waterman. Later on, David went to work for Bullock Construction building railroads. After he could no longer do construction, he mowed lawns and would lend a helping hand, if needed.

David enjoyed watching television, especially football. The Washington Redskins was his favorite football team. He liked to fish and always talked about going out on a boat again. Because he did not have any of his own children, he enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews (especially teasing them).

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael and his parents.

David is survived by his sisters, Barbara and Vivian (Ronnie); his brothers, Charles Jr. (Grace) and Ronald (Dianne) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Family will unite with friends on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 for visitation at 10 am until time of Memorial Service at 11 am at All Saints Episcopal Church, 21569 Oakley Road, Avenue, MD 20609. Inurnment will follow immediately in the church cemetery. Donations may be made to Hospice of St. Mary’s, 44724 Hospice Ln, Callaway, MD 20620.
