Cheryl Ophelia Harris was born to Richard and Ida Lee Harris on May 17,1960, at Columbia Hospital in Northwest Washington D.C. Cheryl was raised in Oakville, MD where she was surrounded by a lot of family and friends.

Cheryl was educated in the St. Mary’s County Public Schools. She worked at B&B Maintenance and Mr. Tidy Janitorial Service.

Cheryl was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Lexington Park, MD, under the leadership of Pastor Roderick W. McClanahan.

Cheryl enjoyed watching old black and white movies, solving Sudoku puzzles, playing video games, cooking, and crocheting. She also liked listening to R&B music, Neo soul music; Kem was her favorite singer. She also loved her Go-Go music. Her hobbies were collecting porcelain figures and dolls. She was a people’s person; to know her was to love her.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, James Richard Harris, Sr. and her special friend, James Benjamin Brown.

Cheryl leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Ida Lee Harris; mother-in-law, Annie Mae Brown; stepson, Brandon Brown; brothers, James Jr. ”Bunky” of Washington D.C, Edward (Marilyn) of Lexington Park, MD, James “Ronnell” Harris of Mechanicsville, MD; sister, Fontella Thompson (James) of White Plains, MD; nieces, Alisha Harris, Zephena Harris, Alexis Sullivan, India Day, and Jamara Bell; nephews, Marque Harris, Carlos Engelhardt, Ricky Harris, and James Bell, Jr. (Lacey); Goddaughter, Raché Williams; God sister, Brenda Brown; very special friends, Selma and Ronald Scruggs, and a host of other family and friends. 

Family and friends will unite on Monday, April 17, 2023 for visitation from 10 am – 11:30 am; service from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm at Park Hall True Holiness Church, 47690 Park Hall Road, Park Hall, MD 20667.  Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
