Rosa Lee Kittrell was born May 2, 1947 to the late Daniel W. and Rosa Lee Kittrell in Washington, DC. After a long illness she departed this life at Washington Hospital Center on July 16, 1:40am. She was the tenth of thirteen children and was affectionately known as “Chubbie” but later changed her name to “Cheryl”. She grew up and resided in DC all her life. She completed her education at Eastern High School in 1965. She was very talented and gifted in art and language. She had a command of the English language that was impressive. She loved to show her diversity in art through drawing, fashion styling and dress. She carried her tall stature well. She loved good food and enjoyed connecting socially by phone or visits. She had a short career having worked for Western Union and the Dept. of Treasury.
From early childhood to her teen years, she was exposed to a spiritual culture of church worship, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, Young Peoples Bible Study (YPHA), Summer Revival Services and family bible reading, which helped to shape her spiritually. Her first profession of faith came as a young woman and she was baptized at Revelation Baptist Church. She was an active member and sang with the Spiritual Crusaders. Later in life she received Christ as Savior and joined Way of the Cross Church in 2008.
She was blessed to have two children, Camilla who was adopted at a very early age and Darryl whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Paul and George and two sisters Delores and Mary Valeecia. She leaves behind to cherish her memory 3 brothers: Delano, Curtis and Daniel, Jr. and 5 sisters: Vernell, Doris, Marion & Marie (twins), and Thelma. Brothers-in-law Rev. Elijah Marshall and Calvin Rodgers, sister- in- laws, Burdine, Eleanor, Joyce, and Iva ; 2 Aunts, Nannie Mae Logan , Brooklyn, NY and Helen Dentzler, DC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Services will be held at Way of the Cross located on 819 9th & D St. NE Friday July 23 at 10 am.
