
Catherine Loretta (Bush) Holton was born on October 3, 1943, in Chaptico, Maryland, to the late Arthur Emanuel Bush, Sr. and Julia Catherine Young. She entered into the arms of Jesus on May 27, 2020, at her home.
Catherine, also known as “Sis” received her education in St. Mary’s County Public School Systems, and graduated from Banneker High School in 1961. Catherine married Fredrick M. Holton on November 5, 1966. Catherine was blessed with 6 children Patrick H. Bush; and from her union to Frederick, Bridget M. Gotay, Catherine G. Holton, Pamela V. Holton Morris, Christopher M. Holton, Sr., and Nicole T. Holton.
Catherine worked at Charlotte Hall Motel for 19 years; and retired from St. Mary’s Landing Restaurant in 2009 as a Cook (where many would come just for her famous stuffed ham). She was a devout Catholic and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. Catherine joined the Immaculate Conception Ladies’ Auxiliary Knights of St. John International 359 in 1981; and held numerous positions during her membership. She enjoyed contributing to the many charity events held by the organization.
Catherine enjoyed playing cards, and attending bingo in her younger years. Recently, she enjoyed crocheting and quilting blankets for family and friends. Catherine enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s many events rain or shine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, in-laws: James E. Holton Sr. and Mary A. Holton, siblings: Arthur E. Bush, Jr. (Mary V.), James Bush, Mary A. Bush (Ford), brothers-in-law: Vincent J. Holton (Carrie), James E. Holton, Jr., Andrew I. Holton (Pearl), sisters-in law: Francis Butler (James), Ada Yorkshire (Timothy), Agnes Armstrong, Cecelia Holton; nephews: Reginald Bush, Jacquard Bush, Donald Holton, John F. Holton, Thomas E. Holton, Darnell Yorkshire, Richard Butler, nieces: Julia L. Bush-Farris, and Alice M. Baruwa, grandson Baby Holton.
Catherine leaves to cherish special memories her two brothers William I. Bush (Ann), Thomas C. Bush (Pat); two sisters-in law: Christine D. Bowles (William-deceased), Agatha T. Adams (Danny-deceased), Eleanor Holton (Niece). Children: Patrick, Bridget (Jessie), Catherine G., Pamela (Timothy), Christopher (Wendy Wheeler), Nicole (Morris Cobb). Six grandchildren: Amanda J. Gotay, Tevon J. Herbert, Triesha Bush, Camille A. Gotay, Christopher M. Holton, Jr., and Jazmine M. Holton. Four great-grandchildren, God-children: Bertha Chase, Tony E. Bush, Sr., Ricky Holton, and Robert Thomas; aunts: Rachel B. Wilson (Bernard-deceased), and Gertrude A. Young (Vincent-deceased), and host of nieces, nephews, and many family and friends.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
The family of Catherine Loretta (Bush) Holton acknowledges with love the many expressions of kindness and support shown to us during our time of bereavement. We thank God for the gift of so many wonderful family and friends. May God continue to bless each of you.
Visitation will be at 10 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Church, 28297 Old Village Rd, Mechanicsville, MD. Interment to follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD.
Catherine was a fun loving person whose laugh was contagious. Her memory will live on here at Immaculate Conception Church for years to come. You will be greatly missed. Forever a friend. Love and condolences to her family.
