Brandon Earl Braswell

On January 29, 2011, Brandon Earl Braswell, went home to be with Lord. He was born January 1, 1986 to Edward Braswell and Dawn Thomas. He attended DC Public Schools and graduated from Continental Academy. He was employed by Glencor Services in Clinton, Maryland. Mentoring the youth was his passion. He served as a football coach with the Freeman Branch Recreation League in Washington D.C. Brandon was an avid sports fan and athlete. He played the position of Quarterback with the Woodland Tigers football team in Washington DC. His favorite pastime was spending time with his mother Dawn Thomas, his cherished daughter Brandi, his godson, Demont’e Hewitt, and his best friends De’Angelo Bowman & Maurice White. Brandon also loved Barack Obama, Lil Wayne and attending Backyard Band concerts.
He was preceded in death by: Paternal Grandmother Christine Bowman; Aunt Carla Harkum; and Uncle Larry Braswell.
Survivors: His devoted mother Dawn Thomas; father Edward Braswell; step-father Edward Thomas, Sr. ; daughter Brandi E. Braswell. one sister, Shariah Braswell; three brothers, Darius Dawkins; and Edward and Cameron Thomas; maternal grandmother, Margaret Harkum; four aunts, LaTasha Harkum; Kathleen Brinkley; Deborah Jean Braswell; and Robin Bowman; five uncles, Charles; James; Michael and Gregory Braswell; Ralph and Christopher Bowman; and Jerome Brinkley. Numerous cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation: Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at the Temple of Praise 700 Southern Avenue S.E. Washington DC. 20032. Officiator Reverend Paige A Harris. Internment Lincoln Memorial Cemetery Suitland, MD

    To Brandons’s mom-
    Words can not express the sorrow that I feel for you. I know your feelings, I know your pain, I know your thoughts. Eleven years ago my experience was the same. I didn’t want to live without my only child, my son. At some point after his death I realized that I had to live for his son. This has been the hardest 11 years of my life although I am thankful that I am still here for my grandson. I know that we have never met but I am her for you as well if and when you need me. Please call me at any time if you want to cry, if you need me to listen or to share our feelings.
