Peacefully on October 18, 2010, Arthur H. Neil Jr. went home to be with the Lord. Vistiation will be held on Saturday, October 23, at 10:00 a.m. until time of service 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church 5501 Silver Hill Rd. Forestville MD. Interment will take place on Monday, October 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham MD.Arthur Neil, Jr. is the son of Margaret “Nana” N. Brown and the late Reverend Arthur Neil, Sr. He was born on August 26, 1942, in Marion, SC. On October 18, 2010, he was at his home in Temple Hills, MD when God called him from his earthly labor to his heavenly home. “Jackie” as he was affectionately called, was loved by all who knew him. To know him is to love him. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. We give the Glory to our Heavenly Father for the 68 years, 1 month, and 22 days Jackie was allowed to live in our midst. He was a loving father, a devoted son, and a faithful brother. His Christian life began when he joined the St. John AME Church family as an infant. His ancestors were charter members of this historic church in Marion, SC. During his formative years he was educated in the Marion County School System. Jackie was a highly skilled and talented varsity basketball player who graduated from Johnakin High School with the class of 1960. Because of his thirst for knowledge he continue his education. After serving an honorable tour of duty with the U.S. Navy, Arthur migrated to the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. Until his retirement in 2005, he worked for the U.S. Treasury Department. He retired with over 40 years of service. Jackie enjoyed working on his computer and helping friends with their tax preparation. Many of his helpful deeds were only known to him and to the persons who he helped. Arthur Neil, Jr. leaves the following to cherish his fond memories; his loving mother, “Nana” of Marion, SC, his loving wife Agnes of the home, four sons: Gregory of Florence, SC, Arthur III of San Diego, CA, Reggie of Raleigh, NC, and Anthony of Capital Heights, MD ; two daughters: Charlene (John) of Upper Marlboro, MD and Wanda (John) of Reidsville, NC; two brothers: Ronald (Thelma) of Augusta, GA and Willie (Jeanette) of Galloway, NJ; eight grandchildren: Chantay, Arthur IV, Dalonte, Jalisa, Brooke, Deion, Tierra, and Corey: three nephews: Ronald III (Anita), Brandon, and Javon: and one godchild Marlon; and host of other family and friends.
