Annie Mae Bowman, beloved sister, aunt, friend greeted our Lord in Heaven on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. A native of St. Mary’s County, Annie was born on December 8, 1955, to the late Matthew Bowman, Sr. and Dorothy Louise Bowman. She was one of nine siblings.
Annie was baptized and received the blessed sacraments at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bushwood, MD where she was still a faithful parishioner.
Annie received her education in St. Mary’s County Public Schools, graduating from Chopticon High School in 1975. During high school, she worked as a clerical worker at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. After high school, she moved to Prince Georges County, Temple Hills, MD where she was employed with the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts as an Analyst Specialist until she retired in 2013.
Annie enjoyed going to church and never missed a Sunday service until she got ill. She enjoyed life to the fullest, especially decorating the house inside and outside, as well as shopping at her favorite stores. She loved spending time with her family and friends; sharing stories and laughing.
She was loving, caring, kind-hearted and always cared about others well-being. Her smile could light up a room. She was a friend to many and touched everyone’s heart in a special way.
Her hobbies were visiting the casino, bingo, dancing, listening to music and playing the scratch off game. She loved to cook and host family dinners on Sunday, along with her two sisters, Libby and Doll, enjoying each relative and friend that stopped by.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Matthew Bowman, Sr. and Dorothy L. Bowman; two brothers: James Dunbar Curtis and George F. Bowman, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her fondest memories, one aunt, Julia B. Nelson; three sisters: Dorothy E. Bowman, Julia R. Bowman and Clara (Bim) Queen; three brothers: Matthew (Joan) Bowman, William Bowman and Harold (Hazel) Bowman; one sister-in-law, Mary M. Bowman; nephew and nieces that she helped raise: Bernard Butler, Mary Hunt, Alphonso Bowman, Donna Thompson, George Bowman and Jacob Bowman; Godchildren: Donna, Nikki, Darwin, Karon and Carla; a dear friend of the family, Margaret Emily Armstrong and best friend, Sabrina Savoy and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Annie will be greatly missed by all.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, April 21, 2023 for visitation from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon; Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 23080 Maddox Road, Bushwood, MD 20618. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

Annie Mae touched so many lives in the very best possible way! She was an amazing person who stood by me at some of the toughest times of my life. As I write this, I am smiling thinking about the fun times too! My heart is at peace knowing that her soul is at rest in the place where there no more death, crying, mouring or pain.
