Angela Lawan Tucker

Surrounded by those who loved her unconditionally, Angela Lawan Corum Tucker departed this life for her heavenly home early evening on December 23rd , 2020. Angela, daughter of Carolyn J. (Richard) Walker and the late Leon (Karen) Dillard Jr., was born October 11, 1956 in Arlington, Virginia where she spent her early years. At a young age, Angela showed character displaying her loving nature towards family and her Kemper Road neighbors and friends. Angela accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior, was baptized, and became a lifelong member of the family church, Second Baptist, located in Falls Church Virginia. Angie, as she was fondly called by family, was educated in Arlington County public schools. She attended and graduated from Wakefield High School, participating in the drill team, homecoming activities and the PSI social organization. She let her light shine even then as she worked to make the world a better place by involvement in the POW-MIA campaigns. Angela continued her advanced studies at Virginia State College, graduating in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Angela met her sweetheart and love of her life, Lloyd Q. “Butchie” Tucker during high school. They were joined in marriage on June 21, 1980. To this union was born their treasured daughter, Danielle Lee. Angela and Butchie were also the proud parents of Fantah (Lawrence) Hyson, Nicole Wright, Denoris Hill and Victor Graham. Angela was a devoted, loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. Angela had a successful and rewarding career as manager of the former Drug Fair chain. She was hardworking, loyal and patient with her employees. In addition to raising a family and working, Angela enjoyed many activities, bird watching, playing scrabble, puzzles, cooking, sewing, and crafting. Wherever Angela was, you could normally find Chance, her tiny toy poodle, front seat driver, companion, “Ride Dog”, and all-around protector. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends that she loved. Her husband, Lloyd “Butchie” Tucker; Grandmothers, Ruth S. Corum and Lorraine Dillard; Grandfathers, Freddie Corum and Leon Dillard; and Father, Leon Dillard Jr. and Mother-in-Law, Emma Lou Tucker preceded her in death. Angela will be forever cherished by her precious daughters, Danielle, Fantah (Lawrence) and Nicole and her devoted sons, Denoris and Victor; her grandsons Andrew and Aaron Lloyd, whom she doted on; her mother Carolyn J. Walker; Stepfather Richard D. Walker; brothers, Wesley D. (Joleen) Walker and Sean M. Dillard. Angela also leaves to mourn her Aunts, Kay C. Harris and Frederica C. Weaver; Uncle, Michael (Michelle) Corum; Father-in-Law, Loyal Tucker; Sisters-in-Law, Donna Davis and Sharon Daniel; Brother-in-Law Melvin (Yvette) Tucker; Stepmother, Karen Dillard, Aunt, Delores “Aunt Tunnie” (Marion “Uncle Pete”) Austin; devoted and lifelong friends, Arlene Miller and Lois Dunbar and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.Angela enjoyed a life well lived, full of courage, compassion and love.
