Kathleen (Kathy) I. (Sherlock) Wilson departed this life peacefully at the age of 90 on November 27,
2022. Kathleen I. Wilson was born in Pembroke, Bermuda, on May 16, 1932, and was the eldest of seven
siblings. Everyone who knew her loved Kathleen dearly, and her smile and laughter lit up the room.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Burt Wilson, son Brian Sherlock, mother Cecelie, sister
Peggy Wilson, brother Rudolf Folder, and two brothers-in-law, Errol and Paul Wilson. Kathleen is survived
by her ‘daughter’ Vernette Trott-Barnes, step-son Randell ‘Randy’ Royal, step-daughter Sasha Gaye,
grandson Vaughn Barnes, granddaughters Malissa and Zierra Royal, brothers Kenneth Swan and
Raymond Swan, sisters Rita Perinchief and Sheila MacBeth, sisters -in-law, Beverly Talbot, Audrey ‘Joy’
Johnson, Ruby Wilson and Angela Wilson, brothers-in-law Barrington ‘David’ Wilson and Norman Talbot,
special friends Muriel and Ralph Burgess, Eleanor and Charles Stovall, the Symonds Family, and a host of
nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and friends.
Kathleen was educated at Central School in Pembroke, Bermuda. She worked at Piggly Wiggly (now
Market Place) in her early years. She eventually met and married Burt Wilson and moved permanently to
the United States. Her family was everything to Kathleen. Whether it was her immediate family or an
entire extended family, Kathleen truly appreciated spending time with her loved ones. Kathleen loved
everyone equally and never had a negative word to say about anyone.
Kathleen loved cooking, shopping, folding laundry (per Kathleen, it soothed her), doing crossword
puzzles, and going to the casinos. It was a running joke with family and friends that if Kathleen won
anything at the casino, that’s when you couldn’t find her. Kathleen also loved cats. Kathleen’s favorite
television shows on TV were “The Young and the Restless,” “The Blacklist,” and “Walker Texas Ranger.”
Kathleen will be greatly missed.
Family and friends will gather for a memorial service from noon until 2pm, on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 7 Industrial Park Drive, Waldorf, MD 20602.
