Librada Enriquez Penaranda, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on February 25, 2023, at the age of 90. She peacefully left this world at her home in Waldorf, Maryland, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Librada was born on July 20, 1932 to her parents Aquilina Palad and Graciano Enriquez. She grew up in the Philippines and later immigrated to the United States with her husband, Ernie Penaranda, in August 1987. Librada was a hardworking woman and found employment at Springfield Academy in North Springfield, Virginia. Her commitment to her job was highly regarded by all who knew her because she was a hard worker that dedicated many years.
Librada retired from Springfield Academy in 2000, so she could devote her time and energy to caring for her grandsons: Matthew Foreman, Nico Penaranda, Andrew Foreman, and Luke Foreman. She cherished every moment with them, and they were a significant source of happiness and pride for her.
In her free time, Librada often enjoyed spending time with family by watching the Washington Redskins and NASCAR, while on her own, would watch Filipino movies and teleseries on her iPad. To show her love and gratitude, she would frequently make sure everyone eats by cooking large meals for her family and friends.
Librada will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle spirit, her immense patience, and her unwavering love for her family. Librada’s legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her surviving family, which includes her children, Gani and Ana Rita Penaranda, Emma Evangelista, Dennis and Ann Marie Penaranda, Jo and Chuck Foreman; her grandchildren, Arlyn Penaranda, Michael and Tenten Evangelista, Cyrell Lester and Hannah Evangelista, Nico Penaranda, Matthew Foreman, Luke and Andrew Foreman, and great grandchildren, Golda, Zach, Mireya and Natania.
Funeral services will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Waldorf, Maryland, on March 6, 2023 at 10:00 am. Friends and family are welcome to attend and pay their respects to this remarkable woman who touched so many lives.
