Thurston Andrew Lewis Jr.

We are heartbroken to announce the death of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Thurston A. Lewis Jr. (84), where he resided in Capitol Heights, MD. He peacefully transitioned on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Thurston was known as June Bug, Coach, and Pops (Daddy) to his grandchildren. 

Some of his favorite pastimes were coaching youth football and bowling. He loved to compete in bowling leagues and in tournaments with family and friends. He rarely missed watching PBA bowling on a Sunday afternoon.  He also had a love for custom cars, attending car shows, and restoring Volkswagens.

He leaves behind his loving wife Patricia J. Lewis of 60 years, two children: Zonia and Scottie (Zartilia), and grandchildren: Erica, Jamal, Tiara, and great-grandchildren: Zolea and DJ. Thurston was predeceased by his parents Thurston Sr. and Juanita, his step-father, John A. Turley (Mr. Gus), and brother, Bernard (Pauline). He is survived by his siblings: Patricia, Howard (Inge), Donald (Pamela), Carleton Turley (Anita), Robin Turley, and Michael Turley (Karen), along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. 

Thurston will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts. Family and friends are welcome to join us to celebrate Thurston A. Lewis’s farewell on Saturday, March 11, 2023, located at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home; Address: 7 Industrial Park Drive, Waldorf, Maryland 20602.

Librada Enriquez Penaranda

Librada Enriquez Penaranda, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on February 25, 2023, at the age of 90. She peacefully left this world at her home in Waldorf, Maryland, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Librada was born on July 20, 1932 to her parents Aquilina Palad and Graciano Enriquez. She grew up in the Philippines and later immigrated to the United States with her husband, Ernie Penaranda, in August 1987. Librada was a hardworking woman and found employment at Springfield Academy in North Springfield, Virginia. Her commitment to her job was highly regarded by all who knew her because she was a hard worker that dedicated many years.

Librada retired from Springfield Academy in 2000, so she could devote her time and energy to caring for her grandsons: Matthew Foreman, Nico Penaranda, Andrew Foreman, and Luke Foreman. She cherished every moment with them, and they were a significant source of happiness and pride for her.

In her free time, Librada often enjoyed spending time with family by watching the Washington Redskins and NASCAR, while on her own, would watch Filipino movies and teleseries on her iPad. To show her love and gratitude, she would frequently make sure everyone eats by cooking large meals for her family and friends.

Librada will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle spirit, her immense patience, and her unwavering love for her family. Librada’s legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by her surviving family, which includes her children, Gani and Ana Rita Penaranda, Emma Evangelista, Dennis and Ann Marie Penaranda, Jo and Chuck Foreman; her grandchildren, Arlyn Penaranda, Michael and Tenten Evangelista, Cyrell Lester and Hannah Evangelista, Nico Penaranda, Matthew Foreman, Luke and Andrew Foreman, and great grandchildren, Golda, Zach, Mireya and Natania.

Funeral services will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Waldorf, Maryland, on March 6, 2023 at 10:00 am. Friends and family are welcome to attend and pay their respects to this remarkable woman who touched so many lives.

Services to celebrate the life of  Ms. Brown will be held from 11am until 1pm.

Cameron Michael Harvey

Cameron Michael Harvey, beloved son and talented artist, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 24, 2023, at the age of 29. Cameron was born on September 16, 1993. His loss is deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Cameron’s true passion was for video games. He was an avid gamer. He also had a passion for art that was evident from an early age. He was truly a gifted artist. He loved to draw. His unique style and attention to detail were a testament to his talent and dedication. Cameron also had a love for cuisine and cooking. He enjoyed exploring new flavors and experimenting with different recipes. His culinary creations were always delicious and served with a warm smile. He had a natural talent in the kitchen, and his passion for food was contagious.

But above all, Cameron will be remembered for his gentle nature and kind heart. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. His warm personality and infectious laughter brought joy to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Cameron is survived by his parents, Gloria Harvey, Michael (Joanne) Harvey; sisters Amanda Respers, Diana (Jon) Allmond, and Kristine Rawls; nieces Daria Respers and Sharlene Rawls; and nephew Ezra Allmond. Also left to mourn are many, many cousins, Aunts, Uncles and friends. His family and friends will always cherish the memories they have of him and the impact he had on their lives.

A celebration of Cameron’s life will be held on March 11, 2023, at the Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 7 Industrial Park Drive, Waldorf, MD at 2:00 PM EST.
