We are heartbroken to announce the death of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Thurston A. Lewis Jr. (84), where he resided in Capitol Heights, MD. He peacefully transitioned on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Thurston was known as June Bug, Coach, and Pops (Daddy) to his grandchildren.
Some of his favorite pastimes were coaching youth football and bowling. He loved to compete in bowling leagues and in tournaments with family and friends. He rarely missed watching PBA bowling on a Sunday afternoon. He also had a love for custom cars, attending car shows, and restoring Volkswagens.
He leaves behind his loving wife Patricia J. Lewis of 60 years, two children: Zonia and Scottie (Zartilia), and grandchildren: Erica, Jamal, Tiara, and great-grandchildren: Zolea and DJ. Thurston was predeceased by his parents Thurston Sr. and Juanita, his step-father, John A. Turley (Mr. Gus), and brother, Bernard (Pauline). He is survived by his siblings: Patricia, Howard (Inge), Donald (Pamela), Carleton Turley (Anita), Robin Turley, and Michael Turley (Karen), along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Thurston will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts. Family and friends are welcome to join us to celebrate Thurston A. Lewis’s farewell on Saturday, March 11, 2023, located at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home; Address: 7 Industrial Park Drive, Waldorf, Maryland 20602.
